Our Mission
TriSight Communications is a unique public relations agency, managed and operated entirely by students of the Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California.  Public relations is a much maligned industry, but students of public relations at USC share the belief that PR is a good thing -- something that can be practiced by honorable and diligent people that do not need to compromise honesty and integrity in order to succeed.  Applying the knowledge from the academic world to actual clients of TriSight is not simply a practical experience for learning, but rather an opporunity to offer real PR to real organizations.

The Opening Pitch

Photo: Jim Gregory & Joan Wickham, TriSight CommunicationsFor those who think of themselves as young professionals, TriSight offers a unique opportunity.   We dedicate ourselves to helping large, small and non-profit businesses with brainstorming, planning, branding, media relations and product launches to get them recognized.  Our service can make a great difference to our clients who might not otherwise have the benefit of a professional public
relations agency.  That said, we must truly strive to deliver professional quality work so that our reputation will continue to grow.  It's not an easy task -- the practice of good public relations is difficult!  The good news is that it is also very rewarding.

The diversity of professional talent and interests is what makes TriSight thrive.  For this reason, the TriSight board has committed itself to nurturing the growth and development of its members.  By building the skills and capabilities of our agency, we are investing in the future of our organization and its associates.  Holding ourselves to higher standards will undoubtedly translate to a higher standard of work.

We are inspired by the creativity, collaboration and mentorship that is taking place within TriSight and look forward to the successes that will surely follow.

Sincerely,

Jim Gregory

Our Current Accounts

TriSight is proud to offer its assistance to the following outstanding organizations this semester:

British Consulate-General, Los Angeles
The British Consulate-General, Los Angeles is currently hosting the "Click for Change: Educate Africa" viral marketing/public diplomacy contest at USC.  The contest, co-envisioned by the Consulate and TriSight team members last fall, challenges USC students to use Web 2.0 technology to communicate the importance of supporting education in Africa.  This spring, TriSight members are working to increase public awareness of the contest through media outreach.

USC Spanish Language Media
TriSight Communications is working alongside USC's own Media Relations staff to broaden the university's Spanish language media profile.  Account team members are engaged in ethnic media research, research to identify Spanish-speaking experts on the USC faculty and applying the S.W.O.T. (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) strategic planning model to create a plan for targeted media outreach.

The Wonder of Reading
The Wonder of Reading is a local nonprofit that works to increase youth literacy by raising money to build libraries and purchase books for local public schools.  This spring, TriSight is engaged in targeted media outreach to help the organization promote its annual fundraiser, at which children and thier families gather to hear authors and local celebrities read excerpts from their books and sign autographs.
Member of the Month

Congratulations to Jennifer Driessen, who was recently named TriSight's Member of the Month for March.

Photo: Jennifer Driessen, TriSight CommunicationsJennifer is a freshman at USC Annenberg majoring in public relations with an emphasis in entertainment, while also pursuing a double minor in entertainment industry communication and the music industry.  She is also a member of two TriSight account teams, making her one of the organization's most active current members.

Jennifer took a few minutes from her busy schedule to share some of the benefits of joining TriSight:

What's the most interesting thing you've done (or learned) as a member of TriSight?

JD - The most interesting thing we've done was definitely the overall process of compiling research for our client about Spanish language media in the Los Angeles area, then presenting it in a way that provides a detailed analysis of the research through PowerPoint using the S.W.O.T method.

What appeals to you most about working in public relations?

JD - The greatest appeal by far is the personal relationships you have with your clients. I'm definitely a "people person" and outgoing, which makes public relations perfect for me.

What are your particular areas of interest in public relations?

JD - That's an easy one... the entertainment industry, hands down. I would love to be a publicist with a high-end celebrity clientele. That is also why I'm pursuing a music industry minor, to learn artist management and publicity strategies.

How long have you been involved with TriSight?

JD - This is my second semester.  In the fall, I worked on the Run for Her account which was a 5k run/walk with Cedars-Sinai to raise money for ovarian cancer research. My experience on that account gave me a lot of confidence and now I am working on both the Spanish Language Media Relations account and the Wonder of Reading account.

What would you recommend to other students deciding whether to join TriSight?

JD - I would let everyone know -- especially freshmen undergrads -- that TriSight is an amazing organization that allows you to get a hands-on experience with real public relations accounts. Even though I know what area of public relations I want to work in, for those who are still sampling different aspects of PR, TriSight has many accounts in various areas that will allow them to "try the field" and see what's best for them. It is also a great way to get better internships because the skills you learn in TriSight will make you stand out among all the other applicants.
The TriSight Advantage

We strive to provide our clients with high-quality, reliable and practical public relations services to help them achieve their strategic goals.  Because we are an all-volunteer organization that does not charge a professional fee for service, the scale of our operations is limited.  Nonetheless, we practice public relations without constraint.

Do you know of a business in need of the TriSight advantage?  Contact us today or forward this newsletter on.  New accounts are considered every semester.
